Nau Mai Haramai
Whaia te remu o tōna
Kia tipu, kia hua
Te Hui Amorangi ki Te Tairāwhiti is the Māori Anglican Church serving communities across the East Coast and Hawke’s Bay of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Our ministry stretches from Pōtaka in the north to Woodville in the south, covering the rohe of Ngāti Porou, Tūranga-nui-a-Kiwa and Ngāti Kahungunu. Within this region thousands of Māori Anglicans gather in churches, marae, kura, and communities to worship God and serve their people.
We are part of Te Pīhopatanga o Aotearoa, the Māori tikanga of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia.
At the heart of our life together is a simple calling:
To follow Christ.
To serve our communities.
To grow faith for the generations to come.
Our Church Today
Today Te Hui Amorangi ki Te Tairāwhiti supports a wide network of ministry across the region.
Our communities gather in parish churches, marae-based worship centres, kura, and community spaces. Through these ministries we support the life of faith and service across the region.
The Hui Amorangi works to strengthen:
Faith and worship through regular karakia and sacramental life
Leadership through training clergy and lay ministers
Community life through pastoral care and ministry among whānau
Mission through outreach and service in our communities.
Our churches remain places where people gather in times of celebration, grief, prayer, and hope.
This calling is expressed in the vision we name:
Ka Tipu Ka Hua
Foundations for Flourishing
Ka Tipu Ka Hua speaks of renewal in the life of the church. It reminds us that when faith is nurtured, when communities are strengthened, and when the Gospel is shared with love, the life of God flourishes among the people.
Flourishing — oranga ake — happens when our relationships with Te Atua (God), tangata (people) and whenua (creation) are restored and life-giving.
When the church lives in aroha (love), rongo (peace), and hari (joy), we begin to see the Kingdom of God among us.
