Poutokomanawa | Co- Vicar General

Central pou of governance and advisor on leadership, strategy, and accountability.

Oversees transparent decision-making across Synod, Whaiti, Trust Board, and Amorangi governance forums.

Represents the Bishop nationally, carrying the voice of Tairāwhiti in Te Pīhopatanga o Aotearoa, the province and the Anglican Communion.

The Ven. Ruihana Paenga

Archdeacon of Te Tairāwhiti Co- Vicar General

The Bishop’s senior officer with delegated authority across Te Tairāwhiti, mentoring archdeacons, safeguarding standards, and leading shared mission with Waiapu.

Provides strategic leadership across all ministries, ensuring accountability and alignment with the episcopal vision.

Prioritises wellbeing and whanaungatanga with clergy, parishes, and ministry teams across the Takitimu rohe.

Oversees ministry, training, and administration, ensuring communication, formation, and adherence to safe ministry standards by licensed ministers.

 

The Ven. Merekaraka Te Whitu

Archdeacon for Horouta

The representative of the Te Pīhopa within Horouta Rohe and Te Hui Amorangi ki Te Tairāwhiti.

Prioritises clergy and community wellbeing, building whanaungatanga and offering pastoral care across Horouta.

Acts as a central point for ministry, training, and administration, ensuring effective communication, formation, and adherence to safe ministry standards.

Archdeacon for Mission

Representative of Te Pīhopa for Mission and within Te Hui Amorangi ki Te Tairāwhiti.

Responsible for leading the strategic mission objects of Te Pihopa within Te Hui Amorangi and TPOA.

Providing ministry and mission oversight to Polynesian whanau in Te Hui Amorangi.

Supporting the implementation of mission initiatives in Te Hui Amorangi such as Tipu Ora, Te Aka Ora and pariha growth and enterprise.

Zhane Tiopira Tāhau

Archdeacon for Ngā Kura Mihinare

Representative of Te Pīhopa for Ngā Kura Mihinare and within Te Hui Amorangi ki Te Tairāwhiti.

Provides spiritual and strategic leadership for the chaplaincy, formation, and special character of Ngā Kura Mihinare.

Strengthens relationships between Ngā Kura Mihinare and Te Hui Amorangi/ Te Pīhopatanga, ensuring missional alignment.

Coordinates ministry, Christian formation, and pastoral care across Te Aute College and Hukarere Girls’ College.
